DARCY STANDS DOWN

LEICESTER can confirm co-promoter Dave Darcy has stood down from his position due to ill health.

Dave took up his role in 2013 and has worked at Beaumont Park under several different regimes with colleagues including the likes of David Hemsley, Neil Machin, Stewart Dickson and the Bates family.

He was a firm supporter of all club activities and was involved in team matters with the Lion Cubs alongside Dave Howard in the early days of that project.

Dave said: “My time as co-promoter of Leicester Speedway has been an enjoyable period in my life, and on reflection I am proud of the part I have played in helping to shape the club from its early beginnings to what it is today.

“There is a tinge of sadness and regret though that due to a recent health issue this has led me to a decision to offer my resignation, because I feel I cannot give the role the full attention it deserves.

“The club is in good hands with Paul Cairns as the new owner and Stewart Dickson as promoter. I am sure that between them they will steer the club to new heights and I wish both of them every success in the future.”

The club would like to thank Dave for all his hard work over the last decade, and he will always be welcome to join us at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park.
